EMRHA GREEN RIDER RULES 2008
**Any rider may be
deemed ineligible for the green rider classes, at the discretion of the show
committee**
GREEN RANCH CUTTING-
A rider is eligible for this
class if they meet all of the ARHA youth or amateur requirements and have not
accrued monies or points in any sanctioned cuttings or ranch cuttings.
A rider is no longer eligible if
they win the class according to ARHA rules. This class will be run according to
the ARHA ranch cutting rules with the following exceptions.
EXCEPTIONS:
Riders are allowed to use two
hands, regardless of horse age.
Cattle are allowed to return
back to the herd with a 3 point penalty
Auditory help is allowed by
turnback riders, herd holders and/or people outside of the arena.
POINT SYSTEM FOR GREEN
RANCH CUTTING-
Rider will be awarded a score
from the judge, for successfully completing the ranch cutting class. The scores
will then dictate how the class is placed.
For EMRHA purposes, this score will then have 50pts total, taken from
it, with the resulting number being the “points” that the rider will accumulate
in Green Ranch Cutting points.
Example:
Rider receives a score of 67 from the judge.
For EMRHA Green Ranch Cutting points, the rider will receive 17 points
(67-50=17points).
Once the rider has earned 100
points in this class, they are no longer eligible to compete in Green Ranch
Cutting.
GREEN WORKING RANCH HORSE-
A rider is eligible for this
class if they meet all of the ARHA youth or amateur requirements and have not
accrued monies or points in any sanctioned class that involves taking cattle
down the fence in competition.
This class is run according to the
ARHA working ranch horse class rules with the following exceptions.
GREEN WORKING RANCH HORSE 1-
Once
pattern work is complete, the cow will be released into the arena, the rider
must box the cow at end of the arena in which the cow is released, the rider
must then track the cow around the arena until judge signals that work is
complete, by blowing the whistle.
GREEN 1 EXCEPTIONS:
Riders do not have to drop
bridle and/or pick up feet.
Working patterns will be
designated and posted by show committee.
Riders are allowed to use two
hands, regardless of horse age.
POINT SYSTEM FOR
GREEN WORKING RANCH HORSE 1-
Circles: 5 points
Lope to the end and stop: 5
points
360’s: 5 points
Back up: 5 points
Boxing: 10 points
Tracking: 5 points
After a rider has
accumulated 100 points in this class, they are no longer eligible for Green
Working Ranch Horse 1.
GREEN WORKING RANCH HORSE 2-
Rider must enter the arena,
leading their horse into the arena, then drop bridle and then rebridle. Rider
must then ground tie horse and pick up all four feet on horse. Rider will
re-mount horse and complete the rest of the class.
Once pattern work is complete,
the cow will be released into the arena, the rider must then box the cow at the
end of the arena in which it was released, then take the cow down the fence and
turn it one direction, then track the cow around the arena until the judge
signals that work is complete, by blowing the whistle.
GREEN 2 EXCEPTIONS:
Working patterns will be
designated and posted by show committee.
Riders are allowed to use two
hands, regardless of horse age.
POINT SYSTEM FOR
GREEN WORKING RANCH HORSE 2-
Remove bridle: 5 points
Ground tie horse: 5 points
Pick up all four feet: 5 points
Mount horse, ride to center of
arena and stop: 5 points
Circles: 5 points
Lope to end and stop: 5 points
Back up: 5 points
Box cow at prescribed end of
arena and then make one turn on the fence: 15 points
Tracking cow until whistle is
blown by judge: 5 points
After a rider has
accumulated 200 points in this class, they are no longer eligible for Green
Working Ranch Horse 2.
